Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

1. Controller

Responsible for the processing of personal data in connection with this website is:

Tintenfrei GmbH
Ackersteinstrasse 86
8049 Zurich
Switzerland
Email: datenschutz@tintenfrei.com

If you have any questions about data protection, you can reach us at any time at the email address above.

2. Scope and principles

This privacy policy applies to the website tintenfrei.com and its associated subdomains, as well as to our product Langswitch (see section 9). We process personal data in accordance with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We only process personal data that is necessary for the stated purpose, and we retain it only as long as that purpose requires.

3. Processing when visiting the website

Our website is hosted by Squarespace. When you access our pages, technically necessary data is automatically processed, including your IP address, the date and time of access, the pages accessed, the amount of data transferred, and information about your browser and operating system. This data serves the secure and stable operation and delivery of the website and does not, by itself, allow any direct conclusions to be drawn about your identity.

4. Cookies and web analytics

We use the analytics built into Squarespace to evaluate the use of our website, for example page views, the origin of visits, approximate geographic region, and the devices used. Cookies are used for this purpose. We do not use third-party tracking services such as Google Analytics or advertising pixels.

On your first visit, we show you a cookie notice. Non-essential cookies, which include analytics cookies, are only set in regions with a corresponding consent requirement after you have given your consent. You can adjust or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings. Technically necessary cookies required for the operation of the website cannot be deselected.

5. Contact form

If you send us an inquiry via the contact form, we process the data you provide — name, email address, optionally your company, the nature of your inquiry, and your message — in order to respond to your inquiry and get in touch with you. Providing this information is voluntary; however, without the required fields we cannot process your inquiry.

Inquiries that do not lead to a collaboration are deleted no later than twelve months after the last contact. If your inquiry leads to a project, the data becomes part of the business relationship and is subject to the applicable statutory retention periods.

6. Embedded third-party content (references)

In our references section, we showcase selected client websites (currently stelviopartners.com and muehlestein-law.ch). By default, you only see a static preview we created ourselves (an image). No connection to the servers of the respective website is established unless you actively start the preview via the "Load live reference" button.

As long as you do not click this button, no data is transmitted to the respective website and no cookies from that provider are set. Only after you click does your browser load the embedded view (iframe) and establish a connection to the servers of the respective website; in doing so, that provider may set its own cookies — in particular analytics cookies from the Squarespace platform. We have no influence on the nature and scope of this processing; the privacy policy of the respective website applies.

7. Processors and disclosure to third parties

To provide our services, we engage carefully selected service providers who process personal data on our behalf (processors). These providers are contractually obligated to process data exclusively in accordance with our instructions and while maintaining appropriate data security. In particular, we use:

  • Squarespace — hosting and operation of the website, web analytics, and processing of form inquiries.
  • As part of Langswitch (see section 9), additionally Stripe, Cloudflare, and Resend.

Any further disclosure to third parties only takes place if you have given your consent or if we are legally obligated to do so.

8. International data transfers

Some of our service providers are based or operate servers outside Switzerland, namely in the USA (including Squarespace as well as, in connection with Langswitch, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Resend). Where we disclose data to countries without a level of data protection recognized as adequate by Switzerland or the EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards, in particular the standard contractual clauses, and — where the respective provider is certified — the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

9. Langswitch

Langswitch is a hosted language switcher for Squarespace websites that we offer. Sale and provisioning take place via tintenfrei.com and its associated subdomains.

Customer account. To use Langswitch, you create an account in our portal. In doing so, we process the data required for registration and license management, in particular your email address, your login credentials, the licensed domain, and configuration and license data. This data is provided and stored via Cloudflare's infrastructure (Workers, Pages, and KV storage).

Payment processing. Purchases are processed via the payment provider Stripe. You enter your payment data, such as your credit card number, directly into Stripe's secure input form; we do not receive or store this payment data. From Stripe, we only receive the confirmations necessary for order and license management. Stripe's own privacy policy additionally applies.

Email delivery. For sending transactional emails, such as license and confirmation emails, we use the service Resend.

Retention. We retain account and license data for the duration of the business relationship and in accordance with statutory retention obligations.

10. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Data transmission on this website is encrypted via TLS (indicated by the lock icon in your browser). However, absolute security cannot be guaranteed when transmitting data over the internet.

11. Your rights

Under applicable law, you have the right to obtain information about the data processed about you, as well as the right to rectification, erasure, or restriction of processing. Where the GDPR applies, you additionally have the right to object to certain processing and the right to data portability. You may withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future.

To exercise your rights, please contact datenschutz@tintenfrei.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the data protection authority responsible for you.

12. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the legal situation or in our services. The version published on this page, with the date stated above, applies at any given time.
